Give the gift of radiant color and shimmering sparkle this holiday season with beautiful glass beaded jewelry from Stephanie A. White, jewelry designer and artisan at SWCreations.
Jewelry is one of the most unique gifts of the holiday season, and the handcrafted process at SW Creations makes it even more special. Stephanie White uses only the finest glass beads and gemstones from around the world, many of which you won’t find at the disposal of other, more expensive designers.
SWCreations is very excited to offer designer beaded jewelry made from handcrafted Lampwork glass beads. Elegant and available in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, these beads were first created thousands of years ago by combining the flame of an oil lamp with air blown through a pipe. Today, natural or propane gas is the fuel used for this intricate and precise method of bead creation, while air or pure oxygen is the oxidizer that melts and shapes the glass.
Each Lampwork bead SWCreations adds to a piece of jewelry is a stunning and tiny work of art, selected from a treasure chest of colors and styles such as swirls of pastel, bold or metallic color combinations, floral patterns, and opulent solids that are either plain or embellished according to the design. Most are paired with glistening clear or richly colored Swarovski Austrian crystals and bright, oxidized Bali.925 silver.
No two selections from SWCreations are ever alike! Though Stephanie’s creative jewelry is often imitated, it is never duplicated, nor is any of her designer beaded jewelry ever mass produced. From beaded earrings to beaded anklets to a beaded jewelry necklace, you can be confident that the recipients on your gift list will unwrap jewelry that is as unique and special as they are.
From simple, understated beauty to jazzy, dynamic stand-outs, SWCreations has jewelry to please all tastes. See their selection of glass beaded necklaces for women and men and handmade beaded earrings, pendants, bracelets, anklets, watches, and button jewelry for women and young ladies.
Other popular items include birthstone pieces, which can be added to any custom piece, and jewelry extenders, ideal for increasing the size of any necklace, bracelet, or anklet for a perfect fit. SW Creations is proud to also offer a complete line of awareness jewelry, a portion of the proceeds from which are donated to support efforts to battle breast cancer, domestic abuse, and multiple sclerosis.
A wide array of choices are available at the SW Creations website, and only your imagination can limit the ways in which that ultimate piece of jewelry can be constructed. Stephanie will work with your ideas to make a distinctive, highly customized item, whether you want a particular shape or a piece featuring colors that celebrate any number of occasions, moods, personalities, or styles. Because each piece is the only one of its kind, even the girl who seems to have everything will be thrilled with handcrafted beaded earrings, handmade beaded anklets, or handmade beaded necklaces made versatile with a jewelry extender.
Stephanie takes great pride and pleasure in the items she makes. Original, Beaded Jewelry Designs — As Unique as the Women Who Wear Them.
by SWCreations
The gift-giving season is fast approaching and it’s always nice to surprise a friend or family member with something you know they’ll cherish forever. This isn’t always easy, and sometimes you can run the risk of gifts becoming repetitious. But there is one gift that will always be unique.
SWCreations, a maker of original handcrafted beaded jewelry, offers a vast selection of beaded anklets, beaded earrings, and designer necklaces – all available with the option to include birthstones specific to those you love.
Turquoise is the birthstone of December and has been admired for its color and beauty for as long as stone jewelry has existed. Aside from being worn by rulers of ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Persia, China, and Israel, turquoise is often traced back to Native American tribes from the Southwestern U.S. Each civilization attributed different qualities to turquoise, but they all agreed it is a cheerful stone that clears the mind and improves health.
Turquoise comes in several shades ranging from a true turquoise found in Iran and the U.S. to a greenish blue found more often in Egypt. The amount of copper and iron in the stone accounts for the different shades, and the more copper it contains the bluer it will appear. Green turquoise contains more iron.
For beaded jewelry, the color is a fashion decision, but all turquoise needs special care. Turquoise beaded earrings or beaded anklets can fracture easily, simply because the stone’s Mohs Scale of Mineral Hardness is below six. Turquoise also tends to absorb perfumes and skin oils, leaving it susceptible to fracturing from products such as cosmetics. This is one reason the stone is left smooth and not faceted.
Beaded jewelry at SWCreations can be created with any birthstone for a completely personal gift. Beaded necklaces, with beaded earrings to match, are very popular, and an additional jewelry extender will ensure the ornaments fit perfectly. A jewelry extender can be created for beaded anklets, bracelets, and a variety of necklaces, including those made of sterling silver or gold vermeil and plated by silver or gold.
Designer Stephanie A. White crafts individual pieces of jewelry that are one-of-a-kind. She uses gemstones collected from locations around the world to create her custom jewelry, so there is a wide variety of colors and styles from which to choose. These are high-quality pieces designed to last for generations and become heirlooms over the years. As gifts, the jewelry guarantees uniqueness. Pieces can be given year after year because of the vast selection of gems, metals, and designs available.
And don’t just think the winter season when picking out the perfect handmade jewelry gift for someone. The designer will create bracelets and anklets using gems, beads, and crystals that harmonize with and represent each of the four seasons.
Czech glass beads, Swarovski Austrian crystals, amethyst, tanzanite, aquamarine are a few that represent summer. Blue and green turquoise, purple Czech glass beads, sapphire, peridot, and amethyst represent winter. One piece for each season would make a wonderful gift for someone who loves to wear jewelry year-round and may appreciate something different from the usual selection.
The customer chooses the color, type of bead, and item desired. If the customer has design ideas, they can be suggested. Each item is delicately hand-crafted by Stephanie White, so you know the item wasn’t mass-produced. Other than Christmas, handmade beaded jewelry makes wonderful gift ideas for birthdays, bridesmaids, and wedding favors. The birthstone of each bridesmaid can be made into a personalized necklace or bracelet. Key chains can be made for men and women.
December is the month to think about turquoise as a birthstone, and it’s rapidly becoming very trendy as a design element in any jewelry piece. A uniquely crafted turquoise necklace with matching earrings is a gift that will be appreciated and loved for years to come.
Beaded Jewelry Trends, Top Choice for the Summer season? That’s Easy! Citrine
by SWCreations
While we think of summer, imagery of colorful clothes, the warmth of the sun, after that laughter come to mind. We think of possibilities for all the great times we will get to share together with family and friends as weather shifts from chilly and dreary to warm and cheery. Beaded jewelry enthusiasts think in terms of finding fashionable pieces which are as delightful and versatile to dress in as the other accessories in their wardrobe. Many choose citrine because it fulfills all the requirements that help it become a sensible choice for summer wear.
Citrine is a variation quartz that has many features that ensure it is perfect for warmer weather. It is reasonably priced, durable, and extremely versatile. This striking gemstone comes in colors ranging from lemon yellow, to brighter golden hues, including oranges, browns as well as reds. It’s most common color, nevertheless, is yellow. Albeit it has nothing - other than color - in common with topaz, it is also frequently referred to as gold topaz, or Spanish or Madeira topaz.
Probably the most interesting features of citrine genstines is its strength and durability. On the Mohs scale of hardness, with diamonds being a 10 and the toughest mineral on earth, citrine, like other quartz crystals, is ranked at 7. The fact that it is so resilient makes it a top choice amongst those seeking to expand their jewelry collections. It’s a safe option to wear to outside get togethers like graduations, picnics or wedding parties because it’s hard to scratch or chip.
Of course, for most individuals, their beaded jewelry has to be as versatile as it is durable, particularly in today’s economy. Citrine is no slacker in this category either. It’s elegant, yet casual and so interchangeable. Business women can easily get away with wearing a gorgeous citrine necklace into the office, yet continue to wear it after work at more casual events.
Its colors allow it to be adaptable to a wide range of color palettes when thinking in terms of wardrobes. Yellow, which is itself a very cheerful and notable color, blends beautifully with trendy and vibrant summer colors like pinks, greens, and even tropical hues and patterns. Yet it still visually nice with the more subdued earth tones of tans, grays, and soft greens.
Moreover, given that citrine is available in such a wide variety of sizes and shapes, it offers many choices for the different types of jewelry it can be used in. It would likely easily be designed into something as delicate as a beautiful citrine tear-drop necklace, or something as bulky as a chunky citrine bracelet or ring.
The citrine gemstone is versatile and durable, but also very important, it’s quite affordable. It’s easily the more economical and fashionable choice for those who prefer the luxurious yellow sapphire, or yellow diamond.
It’s been said for years that citrine gemstones can be connected with self-confidence, light-heartedness, and self-esteem. It certainly makes sense. Anyone sporting it in the summertime months, or all year around for that matter, can feel self-assured that they are wearing something as striking as it is affordable and durable - also it’s certain to make a statement it doesn't matter what the occasion.
Beaded Jewelry Fashions
by SWCreations
Style seems to come in waves, like circles that recycle things over and over, rolling old things back into the new, years after the original idea was formed. As the years go by, you may have started to recognize that things that were cool when you were a kid are somehow cool again—however bad or good the idea might be. For instance, the latest fashions, though devoid of this kind of accessory for a few years, are again turning to beaded jewelry for hailed accessorizing. But this kind of jewelry has been around a lot longer than you probably think.
Jewelry and ornamentation have been a part of cultures all over the world probably since it began. As people began to experiment with the resources around them—stones, trees, plants, clay, etc, they began to see great opportunities to create beautiful things. In tribes of old, the spiritual and political leaders of the community were sometimes designated by the kind of jewelry and accessories they wore. It was a sign of something special—of social advantage, or of power.
These people crafted beaded necklaces, head adornments, and other things to drape on their bodies out of many things. Sometimes they would string them on plants or animal skins, and, of course, all were made by hand. Beaded jewelry was the norm, because most everything had to be crafted, and then strung on some kind of strand or chain. Almost anything could become a bead: a bone, a small rock, some precious stone or metal, or even hair or parts of an animal for good luck.
Soon enough, women in general began to adopt the fashion of wearing beaded jewelry. In more recent years, it has become a large fashion industry, and ranges from all kinds of weights, lengths, materials and colors. Even handmade jewelry is becoming more popular, with kits available to the average person. Many people have begun to make their watches into a piece of beaded jewelry, and these are becoming more and more widespread.
These practices stem from old traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation, through centuries. Every culture has its own twist on how it is done, or what it is made from, but most cultures use some kind of beaded jewelry to designate something of meaning, or even just to promote the idea of beauty. We are not so far removed. And now, with so many options available, you can find the kind of jewelry that will really mean something to you.

In today's touch economic times, most people don't have the same budget that they used to have. Not only have people had to cut back on the essential items, but the extra type items have definitely taken a back seat. Items that have taken the backseat are things like jewelry and expensive accessories. Well if you have noticed, handmade beaded jewelry is definitely in these days as most fashion magazines show a model or celebrity wearing it.
Beaded jewelry has really taken off because people are able to make it themselves and the sky is the limit when it comes to creativity and design. Many people like to use their birthstone when making these types of bracelets and necklaces to give the pieces special meanings. One such birthstone is especially popular. Topaz is the birthstone from the month of November and is used in many beaded jewelry creations. Why is Topaz so popular?
The main reason is because of the look that Topaz has. This type of birthstone has a very clean and clear look as you can see through it. This is fun to make a part of a beaded jewelry piece as you can have shiny little Topaz beads that not only reflect light, but give some dimension and depth to your beaded jewelry creation. This look is very popular as the Topaz beads usually come in the color blue, but can also come in other colors such as red, gold, and green. With all of these different types of colors to choose from, it is easy to find the right Topaz beads to be able to match the outfit or look you are wanting to achieve.
Another reason why Topaz beaded jewelry is such a hot item is because of the cut of the beads. Topaz is usually cut into very pentagonal shapes which give it many flat surfaces. These flat surfaces do a fantastic job reflecting light which gives the Topaz a blingy feel. This shimmer makes the jewelry look much more expensive than it really is as it glistens in most light settings. Most people like having the appearance of wealth without having to spend the money, and Topaz is one of those secret birthstones that can give off that type of appearance.
As you can see, beaded jewelry is getting more and more popular as people are saving money by creating their own pieces. When pairing up beaded jewelry with the November birthstone Topaz, many people find the look they have been craving to pair with any outfit or accessory.

The History of Diamond Jewelry Article
Author: Jonathan Blocker
Diamond jewelry has been valued and worn throughout most of recorded history, although the art and science of cutting loose diamonds is relatively new - and diamond jewelry has only been available to the general public for the last 150 years or so.
Prior to that, diamond jewelry was worn almost exclusively by royalty. The earliest example of diamonds being placed in a setting dates from the time of the Norman Invasion of England; at that time, one of the Árpád kings of Hungary, possibly Andrew I, had rough-cut diamonds set into a crown for his queen. However, cut diamonds would not be available for another half-millenium.
The mid-1500's were an energetic time; Martin Luther of Germany and Henry VIII of England had broken with the Church of Rome; Ivan IV (the Terrible) expanded Russia to its present-day borders, and Ottoman sultan Suleiman extended the Turkish empire as far west as Vienna. It was during this time of ferment that the first diamond-cutters' guild was formed in Antwerp, located in present-day Belgium. An industry soon developed for the purpose of appraising loose diamonds, giving birth to the modern diamond jewelry market. Antwerp continues to be the center of the international diamond jewelry trade.
The gems that are used in diamond jewelry is 75% science and 25% art. Together, these make up the "4 Cs" that are used to evaluate loose diamonds:
"Carat" of course refers to the weight of the gem; a carat is equivalent to about 2 decigrams, or a mere 1/150th of an ounce. That means the largest cut, polished diamond in existence - the famed Star of Africa - weighs just a little over 2-1/4 pounds.
Although we generally think of clear or white diamonds, they come in a wide range of colors ranging from crystal-clear white to dark amber. Pink, green, blue and even purple diamonds are not unusual, and some are far more valuable than their white counterparts.
Clarity refers to just that - how clear the stone appears. All natural and artificial diamonds have internal flaws; the fewer or the less apparent these flaws are, the higher the appraisal is likely to be.
These three qualities are objective, and easily measured and quantified. Cut is a more subjective quality; selecting gems that are appropriate for use in diamond jewelry requires a good eye and aesthetic sense.
Of course, loose diamonds are not really jewelry until they are placed in a setting, such as a ring or necklace. Even the finest diamonds' value can be affected by the setting; it is a value-added aspect of diamond jewelry.

Beaded Anklets – Beaded Anklets Great Gift for Others or Yourself!
Author: SWCreations
One very popular piece of jewelry that’s always popular and less common is the anklet. It adds a little something special to the warm weather wardrobe that a necklace simply cannot do. There are a lot of styles available to get when you are shopping for beaded anklets. When choosing an anklet for purchase, you will need to consider several types, including designer anklets, beach anklets, and the various sizes of anklets. These sizes are 8-9 inch, 9-10 inch, 10-11 inch, and 11-12 inch. It not a bad idea to measure your ankle or the ankle of the person for whom you are buying the anklet prior to purchase.
When choosing beaded anklets for designer wear, consider the personality of the person who will wear this anklet. Are they into art, or do they enjoy solid colors? Do they like a huge variety of colors, or prefer monochromatic color schemes? Choices vary greatly depending on these factors. Some anklets are designed with cute little dangling charms while others are plainer. Some of them even feature artistic-looking beads to enhance their beauty and charm. Quality handcrafted jewelry such as this is hard to find, and you’ll want to give the very best if this is a gift item.
Another anklet type to choose is the beach anklet. These are ideal for a day by the pool or ocean. When lounging in the sun, these swivel and snap beaded anklets won’t fall off and will stay securely attached to the ankle. Brass and nickel are ideal materials to make the swivels out of so that they withstand the environment that they will be in. This type of beaded jewelry is very popular and makes great beaded jewelry gifts! There are many color combinations to choose from, and the use of Swarovski crystals is an option on these. No doubt anyone wearing an attractive beaded anklet at the beach will get a lot of attention when they have on the anklet that matches their personality well.
Giving the gift of quality handcrafted jewelry is easy when you choose beaded anklets! Whether your recipient is more into designer choices or is more of a beach-lover, they are sure to love this item. If it is for yourself, you are sure to love the quality and craftsmanship that go into each and every one. Beaded jewelry is a jewelry trend that never dies. It is one of those universal styles that are always in, so you’ll never have to worry about your piece going out of style.
Fashion Forward for 2010
Author: Paul Buchanan
Winter is ultimately an enjoyable season; cosy nights in with friends, mulled wine and wrapping up warm. When January comes around the sunny days may still seem like a far way off but get dreaming about all the new fashion bits and bobs you will need for the sunnier spring and summer days and any winter woes will melt away.
There are a number of different pieces and looks to see you through spring and summer in style and you can mix and match whatever you wish to create your own individual look.
Shorts are a continuing trend from 2009 with hotpants and boy shorts taking centre stage in 2010. These shorter than short styles are revealing so if there was ever a time to hit the gym, spring 2010 could be perfect! Team with tights to see you through any unexpected cold days and go bare legged when the temperature rises.
Things are certainly looking up for hemlines generally in 2010 - skirts are creeping up the thigh and bottom-revealing bloomers, also known as hotpantaloons, which first appeared in New York have since spread across the fashion cities with head spinning speed.
Sticking to the bottom half, patterned trousers are getting a look in. There is no need to stick to boring block colours on your lower half as a whole host of different trouser prints have made their way onto the spring runways. From floral and bold to striped and subdued you can take your pick from all that’s on offer.
Playsuits have made a comeback. Every so often, one-piece styles of clothing have a revival and the bodysuits and leotards so popular in 2009 have developed into jumpsuits and playsuits for 2010.
Another trend from 2009 that is still holding ground into 2010 is the “boyfriend” blazer. Having one of these in your wardrobe can cure many a fashion fracas and offers an easy way to look chic whether on a fresh spring day or mild summer's night.
The spring/summer story to steal womens fashion headlines is the obsession with nude hues and tones. The vast majority of catwalk shows opened with nude, ice-cream colours, turning the attention to the cut and drapery of the cloth as opposed to eye-popping colours.
The summer of 2009 featured lots of colour blocking whereas spring and summer 2010 focus on subtle tones like nude with peach or grey with icy blue.

Aquamarine – March's Gemstone of Ocean Dreams
Author: Sarah Stephens
Aquamarine is a semi-precious gemstone frequently incorporated into some of the most modern, beautiful handmade jewelry in the world. It is most often found in shades of clear ocean blue, and is widely recognized as the March Birthstone and the gemstone for the 18th anniversary. But beyond its modern-day uses and associations, aquamarine holds a decadent mythological, spiritual and etymological history that adds nostalgic value to its already strong aesthetic worth. Read on for more information that will help you fall in love with your aquamarine jewelry – or inspire you to buy some today!
The beautiful Aquamarine is semi-precious, a light greenish blue to a vibrant blue variety of the species beryl, which makes it a relative of the Emerald. The name Aquamarine is derived from Latin, meaning seawater. "Aqua" translates to water and "marina" translates to sea. This seems especially appropriate for aquamarine's barely-there icy blue tones to intense greenish-blue tones, reminiscent of the sea. Also believed to embody the spirit of the sea, it has been regarded as a symbol of purification, ever-lasting youth, and happiness.
The sparkling tones and light blue hues are said to evoke feelings of trust, harmony and sympathy. The unique blues that the Aquamarine displays are said to represent eternity and life-giving properties, since it is, after all, the color of both the sea and the skies.
Aquamarine gemstones look best as parts of formal evening jewelry when paired with Black Onyx, black pearls or dark blue sapphire. More casual combinations include lighter, bridal colored combinations with quartz, raw diamonds or pearls. To see a selection of handmade artisan jewelry featuring aquamarine, click here. Aquamarine is typically considered a sophisticated gemstone that works well with any outfit. In earrings, it works especially well to enhance the luster of blue or green eyes.
According to legend, Aquamarine originated in a treasure chest for mermaids. Throughout history, Roman fisherman have used aquamarine as protection from the water, as the gemstone is believed to lend strength and confidence. Aquamarine's powers are said to develop best if the stone is immersed in sun-drenched water. Carrying aquamarine is also believed to guarantee a happy marriage, making the owner not only happy, but wealthy as well.
Mostly mined in Brazil, China, and Pakistan, Aquamarine is the designated birthstone for the month of March. It is also the zodiac sign Pisces assigned gem, and for the18th anniversary. This gem is often cut into faceted shapes, smooth cabochons, beads and carvings.
Mohs' Hardness score is based on a 10 point scale where 10 is the most resistant, like a diamond, and 1 is easily scratched, such as Talc. Aquamarine gets a score of 7.5-8, meaning that it is quite scratch resistant and therefore suitable as a component of jewelry. Aquamarine gemstones should be regularly cleaned by a professional or with a soft rag and mild soap and water or an ultra-sonic cleaner. Avoid solvents and harsh chemicals when cleaning your handcrafted jewelry as exposure to these elements can damage semi-precious and precious gemstones and pearls.

The Facts about Domestic Abuse
written for SWCreations by Lisa Vella
Belittling, humiliation, beating, stalking, rape—these are all tragedies that occur with domestic abuse. Isolation, injury, depression, and low self-esteem are the direct results. Domestic abuse, also known as spousal abuse, is a serious problem in the United States. According to the American Institute on Domestic Violence, 5.3 million women are abused each year in the US, every nine seconds a woman is beaten, and every year 1,232 women are killed by an intimate partner.
Domestic abuse occurs when one person in an intimate relationship or marriage tries to dominate over the other in some way. Men and women can both be abusers; however, women are five to eight times more likely to be the abused. Despite what some may think it does not happen due to a lack of control on behalf of the abuser. Domestic abuse is a choice the abuser makes based on his need to exert power and control over his partner. For example, he often considers and even plans out scenarios for the next abusive encounter. He chooses to hurt his partner in areas where others will not see the bruises. He stops abusing to appear completely in control in situations where he might be caught.
Most often, abuse occurs in cycles and being familiar with that cycle may help you or someone you know escape from a bad situation. The cycle always begins with abuse, which can be psychological, physical, sexual, or economic. After the abuse occurs, the abuser feels guilt, but not about what he has done to his partner. His main concern lies with being caught. He rationalizes or makes excuses for what he has done, often accusing his partner of pushing him to do it.
In order to regain control over the relationship and keep his partner from leaving, he then reverts to “normal behavior.” He may pretend that he did nothing at all, or he may treat his partner like gold—causing her to feel that there really is hope for a happy life together. This is often referred to as the honeymoon phase. Once normalcy is reestablished, the abuser begins to fantasize and plan out the next time he will abuse his partner. He creates a plan, a set-up, which his victim will fall into so that he has what he thinks is a legitimate excuse to abuse her again. Then the cycle starts all over again.
There are many signs to look for that indicate whether you or someone you know may be a victim of domestic abuse. There are those based on inner feelings and those based on the abusive partners behaviors.
Signs of abuse based on your own inner feelings:
· Fear of partner
· Fear of angering partner
· Feelings that you deserve to be mistreated
· Feelings of helplessness
· Feeling that you are the crazy one
Signs of abuse based on abusive partners behaviors:
· Partner humiliates and criticizes you frequently
· Ignores you or makes you feel like your input is not valuable
· Blames you for his own abusive behavior
· Threatens to leave you
· Threatens to commit suicide if you leave
· Threatens to take your children away
· Acts overly jealous or possessive
· Controls where you are going and who you are going with
· Limits your access to money, or transportation
· Constantly checks up on you
If you or someone you know is a victim of abuse, the cycle can and must be broken. Nobody deserves to be mistreated, and help is available. The only way to break the cycle is to leave. Many women think that is impossible, but it isn’t. There are a lot of government or privately funded agencies that will help find shelter for women and their children as well as protect them from a dangerous partner. Other sources are 24-hour hotlines, shelters, legal services, and counseling. These services are often free. Always remember that if you are in a dangerous situation you can dial 911.
Domestic abuse is a terrible thing, but it’s important to remember that nobody has to endure it—and nobody ever should. It’s a condition that is growing ever prevalent in the United States and no two cases are exactly the same. It comes in many forms and each is painful, scarring, and immobilizing in its own way. If you are a victim or you suspect you know someone who is, then reach out and break the cycle right away.
Work at Home Mom - WAHM
by Stephanie A White
Working from home can be a very rewarding job. It is such a gift to be able to see your kids off to school and be there when they return home. There are more than 10 million Work at Home mothers ranging from your crafty mom to your data entry computer job mom. With gas prices still on the rise you might welcome not having the daily commute and shelling out all that money.
If you are currently looking for something to do from home you need to be on the alert for the Work at Home scams. Just remember that old saying, “If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.” If they are asking you for money to help you find a position this should be a red flag. Real opportunities do exist, but you will have to exercise discretion to determine if the position is real or a scam. This would be an excellent time to have your guard up and take the time to do the research. After all anyone, even scam artists, can build a presentable convincing website these days.
These are some good tips and words of caution:
A good place to start is to determine what your areas of interest are. Also, what fields are you experienced in? The odds are if you like what you do you will probably enjoy doing it more. Someone once said “if you love what you do, the money will follow”, and I can attest to that statement. If you are starting your own business it can take 2-3 years to get the business off the ground. Starting an online business can be very rewarding but will still require work and research to climb to the top of the search engines. It is possible to create a successful internet business that requires less overhead.
If your Work at Home business does become successful you will have to learn how to balance working from home with managing your family. It is possible to use a content management system to build just about any type of online business. The content management software programs require a learning curve, but they are easier to manage on the day to day basis. In the beginning you will have more than enough time to expand your topics of interest although as your business grows you may find it is more than one person can handle. Unless your company is producing enough to hire outside help you will want to avoid spreading yourself too thin; after all there is only so much one person can do in one day and still have time for her family.

Why Buy Hand Crafted Jewelry?
- written for SWCreations by Lisa Vella -
Mass production is the producing of identical items in extremely large volume on a continuous basis. It is usually done on an assembly line by laborers who often use specialized machinery and have low skill levels. It’s popular because, of course, more products are made at a cheaper cost, thereby making the final product itself less expensive than hand crafted products. Ever since Henry Ford created the Ford Model T. in the early 20th Century, mass production has taken over the world at the expense of the small business owner, the outstanding customer service only a small business owner can give, and the hand crafted products they create.
Low cost? Sounds great, doesn’t it, but what about quality? When laborers produce jewelry on an assembly line, they aren’t putting the time or effort into making sure they are perfect and blemish free. They do exactly what their job is—no more, no less—because that’s really all they have time for and that’s what they get paid to do. An anklet might look pretty when purchased, but what good is it going to do you if you only get to wear it once and it snaps in two because inspections aren’t that thorough?
Crafters take pride in the quality of their products. When a crafter creates an item, you can be sure that time, talent, thought and energy go into its creation. Great effort has gone into each individual piece—making certain every one is lovely and of the highest quality.
How about originality? When you buy mass produced, you get what everyone else has. Sometimes that’s fine, but one reason many people wear jewelry is to stand out. We want to wear jewelry that’s as unique and individual as we are. We want it to represent us as such. Your local chain department store may have some attractive jewelry, but it’s not really symbolic of who we are as individuals because everyone is wearing the same thing.
Hand crafted jewelry is original. You can pick a one of a kind piece of jewelry that embodies your individual taste. If you like dainty things and specific color combinations, you might choose to wear sparkling Swarovski Crystal earrings in your favorite colors. If you have a bold personality, you might wear something bright and sassy that will really catch someone’s eye. If there is something you like, but cannot find, many crafters take pleasure in creating exactly what you ask for.
Of course, mass production has its advantages too, but the sad thing is that it doesn’t represent American pride, nor does it support the small business owner. Large chain retailers are wonderful for the general population. They make shopping easier and more affordable for middle class society, but many items you see at these stores are imported. Quality is poor and the small business owner struggles to support his family—often putting them out of business.
If you ask me the reasons to buy handcrafted jewelry far outweigh those of buying mass produced. Handcrafted jewelry is a superior, quality product, it is unique and original, and it supports the small business owner. I think I’ll splurge on the hand crafted jewelry. Which do you think is the better choice?
The Timeless Handmade Jewelry
- by Cleopatra Mace -
Jewelry has always been essential to people who loves to accessorize. One special piece can make such a difference in the presentation of same outfit. There are so many different variations and handmade jewelry stands out because of its uniqueness. Beaded, carved, filigreed, engraved, sequined, knitted, and painted, various techniques for handicraft arts have been continually developed in all cultures throughout time, which certainly expand the variety of handmade jewelry.
Handmade jewelry makers utilize many types of metals and gemstones in their work, such as brass, copper, silver, gold; and crystal, quartz, turquoise, coral and amethyst. Many contemporary jewelry artists make use of even more diverse materials such as glass beads, fabric, acrylic as well as organic /natural material such as wood, leather, shell, hemp, raffia grass, animal horns, bones and even teeth. In fact jewelry made of these materials gains more and more in popularity.
Compare to mass-produced jewelry, handmade jewelry involves much more with culture, humanity and history. Most handmade jewelry has a certain ethnic flair. Or I should say, most culture has their own unique handmade tribal jewelry. Miao, for instance, an ethnic group at South West China, is well-known for their amazing women’s 20+ kg silver costume jewelry set as well as their extraordinary craftsmanship on silver jewelry making. Although Miao silver (a combination of nickel and copper) is utilized as a more affordable alternative nowadays, the popularity of Miao handmade hairsticks and accessories is still increasing because of their varied and creative designs. Tibetan handmade jewelry, on the other hand, featured bold styles and dramatic colors. The styles are versatile enough for you to find “go anywhere” pieces to wear with anything from jeans to evening dress. Thanks to the convenience of internet, I have collected native American cuffs, African leather necklace, Tibetan style beaded turquoise and coral bracelets, Miao hair jewelry sets, Indian Kundan necklace and earrings, and oriental carved lacquer and Cloisonné hairsticks, with some simple clicks of mouse. My biggest surprise was a piece of one-of-an-kind refractory porcelain hair stick. The exquisitely handmade flowers look so real and almost too pretty to wear.
Finding a gift for loved ones or special events such as bridal shower is never easy. If you want to make an unforgettable present, you might want to consider handmade jewelry. My friend Maggie, a pretty and smart girl, bought dozens of Tibetan silver cuffs studded with gemstones for her bridal shower. “How many times will a woman want to wear identical stuff as somebody else’s?” She said. How true! Her gift turned out to be a “bomb” on that day!
Price is always the concern. The price for handmade jewelry varies in a large range depending on the material, craftsmanship and sometimes brands. The most important thing to remember when shopping for handmade jewelry is that you are looking for uniqueness. It does not have to expensive or made of precious material. It is the style that catches you and others eyes. Also, while the internet made it easy for us to shop at home, it also provides means for us to compare styles and prices, as well as searching for best deals such as free shipping, on-sale and coupons.
Whether you are looking for something to accent a dress for the special occasion or unusual gifts for the loved one, try handmade jewelry and make the memory timeless.
Tips To Caring For Your Sterling Silver
- by Melanie Spark -
As women, we love our jewelry. We admire it. We wear it, and we always want it to look as terrific as the day we first bought it. Every type of jewelry, including gold and gemstones, needs to be cared for properly if it is to last a lifetime and sterling silver is no different. Also a precious metal, sterling silver is both durable and strong. When combined with the strength of cubic zirconia, jewelry lovers have one sparkling duo that is sure to last for years to come.
Tip # 1: Always put your jewelry on last.
When you're getting ready for work, school or just running daily errands, it's a good idea to put your jewelry on last. Why? Products such as perfume, hand lotion and even hair spray can cause residue to build up on your jewelry, especially rings, and can make it more challenging to clean. In addition, hand lotion can cause your gemstones to look cloudy, so make sure that it's dry before handling your jewelry and/or putting on your rings.
Tip # 2: Store your jewelry in small bags with a zip closure.
Sterling silver, over time, will tarnish. However, it's worth noting that gold can also become dull and require a quick polish, so the fact that sterling silver too will need polishing is no reason to shy away from it. One way to preserve the beauty of your sterling silver jewelry is by polishing it after each wear and placing it in a zip-loc jewelry bag. These small bags are available in all sizes, and can be found in 1" x 1" measurements and larger depending on your needs. When you're ready to enjoy your jewelry again, simply remove it from the bag and it's ready to wear.
Tip # 3: Keep your sterling silver and cubic zirconia jewelry out of direct light.
If possible, store your jewelry in the gift box that accompanied your purchase. You may be able to slow the tarnishing process by keeping your jewelry out of direct natural and/or indoor light.
Tip # 4: Separate your jewelry to prevent scratching.
If you own jewelry that features high polishing and/or bold designs with surfaces that would show scratches easily, store them separate from other pieces. For instance, earring posts and ring settings could create a problem for neighboring jewelry pieces if they were to be stored loosely in a jewelry box. Instead, store your jewelry in a zip-loc bag and in its original gift box as noted above. Not only is this method of storage ideal for preventing tarnish, but it will also help to prevent contact and unnecessary scratching from other pieces.
Tip # 5: Clean your jewelry with care.
When choosing a cleaner for your jewelry, make sure that it's specifically made for your type of metal and/or gemstones. For instance, some cleaners and polishing cloths are created for sterling silver and others for gold. In addition, some cleaners are not recommended for certain gemstones, so always make sure to read the directions completely before using any product on your jewelry. If in doubt, use only a combination of mild soap and water to keep your jewelry sparkling.
The information contained in this article is designed to be used for reference purposes only. It should not be used as, in place of or in conjunction with professional advice on cleaning and/or caring for your jewelry.
The Necklace as Jewelry Transcends Cultures and Time
- by Ron Peterson -
A representation of feminine beauty and mystique, the necklace has been an integral part of a woman's decoration and beauty for ages. Whether a choker, rosary or chain, the necklace has achieved a timeless appeal. In many cultures, necklaces have marked cultural distinctions, based on ornamentation, length and attire. From Greek mythology to the French Revolution, the necklace has played a major role in cultures worldwide.
Since the dawn of time, necklaces have been fashioned from jewels, chains, rocks, metal, cloth, wood, and shells. As one of the first man-made objects for wearing around the neck, necklaces once served as an elemental piece of apparel for men and women. Prehistoric fashions that draped around the neck and torso (forming the shape of a safety pin) were used to clasp layers of clothing. Among the ancient Egyptians, necklaces formed a fundamental part of dress. For example, the Ankh was worn to symbolize the amulet of life. Egyptians also adorned their necklaces with gold, beads and jewels, which later served as temptation for grave robbers centuries later.
In ancient Rome, young boys wore a bullah, or a chain around the neck with a pouch containing an amulet. While the bullah was worn by most classes, the upper class had amulets made of gold. These necklaces were intended to provide protection as boys were considered the stronger species in need of special protection. In comparison, Roman men wore signet rings of iron or gold. These rings were used to seal official documentation. Since Roman women during these times did not enjoy the same societal status as their male counterparts, jewelry was a mechanism of showcasing their particular position in society. According to one source, when a 195 B.C. law suggested that women give their jewelry away for use in war materials, women protested in the streets. Typical jewels of the day included amber, gold, pearls, polished stones, and glass beads.
During the Medieval ages, necklaces were simple and practical. But as history progressed through the 14th through 16th centuries, jewelry in general became more glamorized, especially neckwear. Intricately designed chains and collars graced the necks of ladies.
With all the power, prestige and beauty contained within one piece of jewelry, perhaps it is not so surprising that the necklace played an integral role in the downfall of France's monarchy. Known as the "Affair of the Diamond Necklace," the incident involved the court of Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette who was implicated in a crime to swindle the crown jewelers for the cost of a very expensive diamond necklace. The scandal added to the disillusionment of France's people with their monarchy, which along with other events, eventually culminated in the French Revolution.
In the Eastern part of the world, necklaces have long been fashioned with an array of exquisite jewelry and gold. In fact, gold necklaces play a very important role in Middle Eastern dress even today. The Arabian necklace symbolizes not only an embellishment, but also a form of security and an economic marker. Islamic calligraphy and Quranic symbols are also prevalent.
Neckwear in Assam, India, is often typified with motifs of orchids and flora and fauna. Other Indian jewelry ranges from religious to domestic. In areas surrounding temples, shops sell sanctified necklaces made of scented sandalwood, silk and gold. Worn by married Hindu women, the mangal sutra symbolizes love in holy matrimony. It is made of a combination of black beads and a gold pendant.
In Africa, necklaces designed from colorful beads have been used as part of traditional attire for centuries. African neckwear has also been used to designate tribal heritage, status, and for currency exchange.
No matter the cultural destination, the necklace has been an important decoration for ages. Some cultures have even utilized the necklaces to identify cultural and class distinctions. Indeed, the necklace has played a major role in cultures worldwide.
A Charmed History: Charm Bracelets Provide Hope and Comfort Throughout the Ages
- by Ron Peterson -
As far back as the Neolithic era, humankind chose to carry unusual stones or a piece of wood as protection from enemies or evil spirits. During the time of the Egyptian pharaohs, the first recognizable charm bracelets and necklaces appeared. These were elaborate pieces of jewelry made of precious stones and metals. Charms were also used to identify an individual to the gods in the afterlife.
Much later during the Roman Empire, Christians identified one another with the "ichthys," or fish charm, they carried beneath their garments to gain entry into secret worship meetings, held sometimes in the catacombs. Medieval kings and knights used charms with incantations for protection. Charms could also represent family origin, political standing and profession. During the Renaissance as superstitions faded, charms began to lose favor with the more wealthy and educated. However, in the early 20th century, it was Queen Victoria who began a charm bracelet trend among the European noble class during her reign. The Queen took to wearing a bracelet with tiny charm pictures of her children.
Charm bracelets again found an audience at the end of World War II. Soldiers returning home from overseas brought along trinkets made by local craftsmen to give their sweethearts. The charms represented miniature replicas of notable locations, such as the Eiffel Tower or Big Ben. Stateside jewelers quickly caught on to the trend and began fashioning charms for all occasions. Within a decade, the charm bracelet was the must-have accessory for girls and women. Charm bracelets became popular gifts for 16th birthdays, graduations, weddings, and births of children. These tiny links to one's personal history became deeply valued for their sentimental and material worth.
More recently, Italian charms became the rage at the turn of the Millennium. A departure from the traditional hanging trinkets, these bracelets snap into the bracelet rather than dangle from it. The flat, modular charms link together to form a bracelet, keychain or other accessory. Zoppini and Nomination are two popular makers of Italian charm bracelets. Fashion gurus like Louis Vuitton and Juicy Couture have also launched their own Italian charms.
Meanwhile, in both Europe and North America, a new modular charm bracelet trend has emerged. These modular bracelets consist of a chain onto which various beads or charms can be placed. Charms are made from gold, silver or Murano glass. The bracelet's design allows the wearer to interchange the charms and create a totally unique look. Beads can also be worn on necklaces, rings and earrings to make a complete set.
The modular jewelry concept enjoyed acclaim in Europe before coming to the States. Inspired by Greek mythology, it combines versatility with fashion to establish beloved charm and bead bracelets. This jewelry concept also encourages creativity and individuality through its beautiful designs.
Women can create their own look and style for every whim or special moment. For example, you can design the Bohemian romantic, the elegant chic, the raw grace, the 60's flower power, the charmed sophisticate, the billionaire, the simplistic minimalist, or the pure feminine. Modular jewelry can be used to reflect a change in mood or to express personality.

You are Unique Shouldn’t Your Jewelry be Too?
- by Jessie Ozbal -
Handmade jewelry is an extension of your personal trait. As a reflection of your own character, it’s a total injustice if your jewelry was just made from common stuff. It is worse if your jewelry collections are just the standard off-the shelf items that everyone wears.
You are unique that is why your jewelry should be unique also. And handmade jewelry is the way to go. A handmade jewelry is a highly customized personal decorative item. It may not be too expensive but its real worth comes from the level of personalization invested on it.
A unique handmade jewelry can be very flexible. You can use it on any occasion and it will still fit in to your attire. Because handmade jewelry is made not just for the clothes you wear but for your very own personal and unique characteristics. This is the secret why a unique handmade jewelry is very versatile.
You may want to achieve a modern look to your personality and add a funky playfulness to your wardrobe; then handmade jewelry should be your only option. You need to buy a handmade jewelry that can accurately depict your unique sense of modern playfulness and zest.
A unique handmade jewelry can provide color to your modern ensemble. You might opt for an all black satin night dress and top it off with a hot and whitish handmade jewelry made from sea glass beads. The contrast will surely fly off the air and you can surely make a lot of heads to turn. You’re actually exuding the seriousness of modern lifestyles but with a bit of lively playfulness avoiding drabness and monotony.
A unique handmade jewelry can also be used to emphasize a personal statement. Because a handmade jewelry can be made from very exotic and extraordinary materials, the artistic flair that you can put into it is limitless.
You may use your handmade jewelry to express your indignation or approval for a certain issue. It can highlight your advocacy in a very fashionable and cultured manner. You will end up getting your expected attention without really doing anything. All you did was to wear a very unique handmade jewelry that carries your personal statement.
Handmade jewelries are not modern inventions. In fact, early humans and the ancients decorate themselves with handmade beads or anything they find beautiful. As the technology for jewelry making advances, the sophistication of hand made jewelry making also improved.
Today, you can find lots of hand made jewelries set as bracelets, anklets, necklaces, rings, head gears, and decorative buttons, pins or clasps. The materials used to make a handmade jewelry also became sophisticated. Sea glass beads, colorful gems, shiny silvers, and elegant stones are just some of the materials used for handmade jewelry making.
If you want to highlight your unique personality or rise above the complete drabness of mass produced accessories, then you need to have a set of handmade jewelry. You can become a modern cosmopolitan citizen just by wearing an elegant handmade jewelry.
2009 Beads Jewelry Fashion Trends Forecast
- by Krista QQ -
Spring of 2009 is right around the corner and there’s no better time to plan for the upcoming bead jewelry trends than right now, before the 2009 spring and summer seasons really begin! Predicting future fashion and jewelry trends is always a little bit of a game, but I’ve been reading a lot of fashion magazines, listening to my customers that visit my bead jewelry display table and generally talking to people about what they are looking for. There are some definite trends for 2009 and here are some of the things I’m hearing:
Colorful and Natural
I have seen some emphasis on "nature" influences which sometimes shows itself in the materials such as wood or stone beads use in jewelry, but I’ve also seen a lot more "flower" and "leaf" shaped beads and pendants on the scene. Any sort of botanical or organic looking jewelry pieces or beads are still popular from what I’ve seen. I don’t make much, but I’ve actually had people asked me if I have anything that has "natural warmth".
Big and Beautiful
It sounds like the days of dainty shiny pieces of metal jewelry are gone for the moment and the big and colorful gemstone jewelry and beads are still pretty hot right now. People are still asking for more “chunky” jewelry, sometimes with larger stones and crystals that catch the eye, sometimes with asymmetrical patterns or at least oddly cut beads and gemstones.
Cocktail Rings
If you're shopping, wearing or making rings, consider “rings with bling!” Cocktail rings are generally over-the-top diamond or gemstone rings that are overly colorful, shiny and, yes, sometimes a bit gaudy. But that’s part of the fun! These go along with the bright and bold bead jewelry you might be wearing and could even match or compliment it with similar gemstones or beads. You can make cocktail rings with gemstone beads, crystal beads or just about any other shiny materials.
Charms and Pendants
Again, going with the bold and bright bead jewelry, what stands out more than a beautiful chain that meets with a large bold diamond or gemstone charm or pendant on the end? Yes, natural and chunky are in, but there is still room for metals in beaded jewelry, especially when it is sleek and modern looking or even mixed with natural materials like wood and stone beads. There are always people who like the more “modern” beads and jewelry as opposed to the more traditional bead jewelry designs. You can buy modern beads for jewelry making or you can go for a more unique look and actually make
beads jewelry out of hardware washers!
Silver and Gold
Silver has been popular for the last few years and that will probably continue, but you’ll also see more gold and even two-tone chains and metals being used in both beads and jewelry pieces. Some of those silver and gold Trollbeads are excellent examples of mixed metals being used as a charm or pendant in bead jewelry pieces.
Faux Foreign Influence
I’m still seeing a lot of Asian and Moroccan influences in fashion, home furnishings and even jewelry. The influences don’t have to be completely genuine or "realistic" but that sense of something coming from a foreign country and past time are still popular. Even the big chain stores are catching this vibe and a lot of their house wares and jewelry give off that "Pier One" vaguely Indian or Eastern Orient vibe. When you’re creating bead jewelry necklaces or bracelets you could think about using dark wooden beads (natural) and mixing it with large metal Oriental looking coins and rings with a hole through the center to bring in the foreign feel!
Colorful
You'll want to think about bright and bold, but remember that natural element! Neons and wild synthetic colors are not popular, but bright natural colors definitely are in, both in clothing and jewelry fashion. Once again, I have to turn to the color experts at Pantone who have picked out the trendy colors for 2009. Don’t forget to look at the 28 page Adobe Acrobat guide there! It’s fun and inspirational! I’m thinking about printing a few of the pages out and hanging them around my beading area for inspiration when I’m creating my jewelry.
Last, if you have seen any other bead jewelry trends for 2009 that I missed, pls don’t hesitate to let me know...
How to Choose a Piece of Handmade Jewelry
- by Kristie Leong M.D. -
When you choose a piece of handmade artisan jewelry, you are purchasing a piece of work directly from the artist's hands. This gives it special meaning and value. Much thought and design knowledge has gone into creating your special handmade jewelry piece. Here are some guidelines to help you make the best selection:
1. Are you buying handmade jewelry for yourself or as a gift?
Handmade jewelry makes a very special gift. It shows you've taken the time to find a piece of jewelry not found in a department store or produced on the mass market. This will be reflected in the beautiful craftsmanship that the individual artist adds to the piece. There's also the option of having a custom design created by the artisan for a special, one-of-a-kind gift.. When you buy handmade jewelry, you're getting the highest quality components and design because the artist has complete control over each phase of the process. You'll have a unique design that you can wear with pride knowing that it won't be seen on everyone else in town.
2. Do you like a classical look or do you lean more towards a funky, eclectic style?
If you prefer the classics, you may want to consider purchasing a simple, single stranded necklace with matching bracelet and earrings, possibly in a solid color. This kind of look never goes out of style and looks elegant with almost everything you wear. If you lean towards the funky, eclectic look, consider wearing a larger, chunkier necklace or layering several smaller necklaces for a unique and offbeat look. Who says the earrings have to match the necklace? You can choose necklace and earring combination that suits your own unique personality. The sky's the limit!
3. What is your basic body build? Are you tall or short, petite or big boned?
If you have a petite build you may find more delicate pieces are appropriate so that you aren't overpowered by your jewelry. A petite woman can look quite dramatic in a large necklace if it's worn with a solid colored outfit and is the focal point of her look. In a case like this, you might want to choose a smaller, more delicate pair of earrings to avoid looking overdone. If you're tall or larger boned, the sky's the limit! You'll find big and dramatic pieces to be quite flattering and you can easily pull off the layered look. Although the above is a general guideline, there are no hard and fast rules. Jewelry is all about expressing youself the way YOU see fit!
4. What is your basic skin tone and hair color?
Again, there are no hard and fast rules here at all. Sterling silver can be particularly flattering if you have dark hair or grey undertones. Blondes tend to look stunning in gold, goldtone, and brass shades. Copper shades are just made for the rare redheads of the world, although copper looks great with almost any hair color!
Jewelry is fantastic for drawing the eye to your most flattering features and pulling the eyes away from your less desirable ones. If you have an overly round shape, a round earring shape will only accent it. Why not try an interesting drop style to draw the eye downward. If you have a long, narrow face, you might want to avoid the drop style earring and go for a shorter button type. Do you love your hands? Accent them with a beautiful handmade bracelet! Likewise a nice manicured hand can be accented with a handful of artisan rings.
As you can see, handmade jewelry can change the way you look and feel. Use these guidelines to help you select pieces that are right for you. The result will be a stunning collection of artisan jewelry that you'll treasure for many years to come.
History of Handcrafted Beaded Jewelry
- by SWCreations -
You might feel that the history of handcrafted beaded jewelry cannot possibly be very interesting, but in fact, it is quite intriguing to learn where this part of culture began. Some say that the beginnings of beaded jewelry began more than 70,000 years ago when man found the beads and gems and thought it was incredibly beautiful. Beaded jewelry has been used in many ways. One way is simply for beauty. Another is for value. Some would trade and buy with beaded jewelry or beads. And some cultures even used them as talisman. So how was beaded jewelry initially created? Let’s take a look.
Although a man or a woman living in those times would not possibly have any practical use for them; however, they could not carry them around without modern day bags or carrying devices, nor did they have pockets. So, as legend tells us, they attached the gemstones or beads to leather straps and wore them around their neck to create the first handcrafted beaded jewelry. Over time, handcrafted beaded jewelry started to become a status symbol. Those with power and wealth were the ones who had beaded jewelry. Beads even have been used as an item of value for which trade could be made.
Handcrafted beaded jewelry has been made out of many types of beads. Beads have been known to be made out of glass, bone, porcelain, shells, paper, clay, metals, gemstones, ivory, and even wood. Bead craftsman often held the trade secrets in confidence. They were expected to keep the bead-making skills a secret. Some of them even risked themselves if they failed to keep the information to themselves. Mass production of beads didn’t even begin until the 1800s when glass beading became widely available. It was at this time that Swarovski created their process for making their special beads which are still in high demand today. Even today, the secrets of how their beads are made are kept secret.
Different parts of the world created different types of handcrafted beaded jewelry. Central and South America are known for their wampum and quill creations, while Native American beadwork usually included a lot of turquoise and silver. Bead making in France began as early as 38,000 BC! Worry beads, Filigree, and highly decorated ceramic beads originated in Greece, while Italy specialized in the Murano glass beads. There are dozens of other countries not yet discussed here, but beaded jewelry has a rich and vast history that is incredibly interesting. Suffice it to say that there is a rich cultural tradition with wearing beaded jewelry.

Gone are the days when jewelry was considered the sole possession of women. Men too have shown great affinity for these decorative pieces and are now worn by many to create that ultimate fashion statement. Commonly observed, it seems that the great demand for jewelry across the world has led to the abundance of duplicate or imitative designs and products. Even the fashion jewelry and costume jewelry sold in the shopping malls are losing their uniqueness on account of being sold on retail. The solution then lies hunting for the right place for your unique jewelry piece.

Earthy woods, textured brass, semi-precious gems, gold, silver, brilliant crystals, or unusual elements are used to craft some of the most stunning designs.
An essential thing to remember while buying handcrafted jewelry is its theme and style. If you are a person who loves dressing formally, then colorful gemstones, precious or semi-precious stones would be the plausible choice. However, for the younger and the hip lot, trying out new styles would just do the trick. For instance, it would be a great idea to experiment with handcrafted Bohemian style jewelry. Use of simple material with bold designs would definitely help to create a free-spirited funky appearance. Another unique handcrafted jewelry style is the poetry engraved jewelry, where beautiful poetic lines are engraved on gold and platinum. These handcrafted jewelry items are ideal for all ages and are especially preferable for informal costumes.
So give up your common fashion jewelry this season to try out the chic and trendy handcrafted jewelry . The mixing of different styles, in combination with the artist’s vision and creativity, makes every jewelry item one of a kind.
