Step into a shaded woodland filled with violet blooms and earthy forest color with Woodlands Violet Frit Blend, a 96 COE signature in-house artisan mix inspired by mossy ground, weathered bark, muted stone, soft violet flowers, and the layered colors found beneath a forest canopy.

At first glance, the blend appears grounded in earthy browns, olive greens, ivory, and muted neutral tones. As the glass melts, however, Woodlands Violet begins revealing flashes of violet, plum, blue, and deeper berry color that become much more noticeable under brighter light. In lower light, the finished glass can appear considerably more brown and subdued, while natural light and direct illumination bring out the hidden violet and blue tones.

Designed for 96 COE glass systems, Woodlands Violet performs beautifully for lampworking, fusing, glass blowing, and surface decoration techniques. The blend produces distinctly different results depending on how it is worked. Mosaic applications preserve individual fragments of color, creating organic speckling and stone-like patterns. Swirl techniques encourage flowing ribbons of earthy brown, violet, olive, ivory, and blue. Encasing adds depth and luminosity, but with this blend, less is often more. A lighter application allows the individual colors to remain visible, while heavier layers, especially under clear glass, can blend together and appear darker or more predominantly brown.

One of Woodland Violet’s most interesting characteristics is the way its color changes with lighting. Under softer or dimmer light, the finished work often reads as warm brown, olive, and neutral. Under brighter light, violet, plum, blue, and subtle berry tones become much more apparent, giving the glass a layered, shifting appearance. Different base glass colors further influence the final result, allowing each bead or project to develop its own unique variation while remaining part of the same cohesive woodland palette.
