At first glance, the blend presents a harmonious palette of warm creams, earthy browns, soft charcoal grays, weathered ivory, and subtle mineral tones. Once introduced to the flame, however, Ancient Strata reveals its true character. Reactive glasses mingle and transform, producing flowing ribbons, rich mineral reactions, coppery earth tones, smoky veining, and organic patterns that resemble polished stone, ancient rock formations, and naturally weathered landscapes.

Designed for 96 COE glass systems, Ancient Strata performs beautifully in lampworking, fusing, glass blowing, and surface decoration techniques. Its personality changes dramatically depending on how it is worked. Mosaic applications preserve intricate mineral fragments and layered earth tones reminiscent of weathered stone, while swirl techniques stretch the colors into flowing geological ribbons that evoke sedimentary layers, polished agates, and natural stone formations. Encasing enhances the blend's remarkable depth and luminosity, allowing the layered reactions to develop beneath the surface. Compatible with 104 COE at small quantities (approximately 5–10%). As always, testing on a smaller project is recommended before larger applications.
