SWCreations frit blends grew out of decades of hands-on experience working with glass. With over 26 years in beaded jewelry and more than a decade focused on lampworking, Stephanie White developed a deep understanding of how color, chemistry, and heat interact in the flame and kiln.

Like many artists, her early work involved experimenting with commercially available frit while crediting and exploring the materials provided by established manufacturers. Over time, a desire for greater control over color behavior, reactions, and layering led to the development of custom blend formulations tailored to her own studio needs.

What began as experimentation evolved into a structured process of recipe development, testing, and refinement — ultimately becoming the foundation of the SWCreations frit blend line.

From Experimentation to Formulation

Each SWCreations blend starts with a design goal:

  • Encouraging specific color reactions
  • Enhancing tonal depth
  • Creating layered transparency or opacity
  • Supporting predictable working behavior

Base glass is sourced from trusted manufacturers such as Reichenbach, Gaffer, and Oceanside. However, the blends themselves are independently developed — carefully measured, combined, and produced in small batches in the SWCreations studio. Reichenbach is the frit blend used the most, but some blends may include Gaffer or Oceanside.

These are not repackaged or resold premixed frits. Every blend reflects original formulation work and hands-on studio testing.

Studio Testing and Real-World Use

Because the blends are developed by an active glass artist, they are evaluated through practical application:

  • Lampworked bead testing
  • Kiln compatibility observation
  • Reaction behavior analysis
  • Color stability monitoring

This real-use feedback loop ensures blends perform reliably for fellow artists across multiple disciplines.

Designed for Fellow Makers

SWCreations frit blends are created with working artists in mind — whether they are:

  • Exploring new reactive effects
  • Seeking consistent decorative accents
  • Developing production workflows
  • Experimenting with surface layering

The goal is to bridge artistic creativity with dependable performance, offering blends that inspire exploration while maintaining practical usability. Our customers are lampworkers, fusers, glassblowers, or pottery makers.

Continuing Development

Blend creation remains an evolving process. New recipes continue to be tested, refined, and introduced based on studio discovery, artistic curiosity, and feedback from other glass artists.

This ongoing exploration ensures that SWCreations frit blends remain grounded in real artistic practice rather than static production formulas.
