Lilac Bloom Frit Lampwork Beads
Working with glass is always a balance of chemistry, heat, and creative intuition — and few things are more satisfying than watching a custom frit blend come to life in the flame. These two new sets of lampwork beads feature our in-house blend of purples, and while the color recipe is the same, the results are wonderfully different depending on the technique and base glass used.
The first set was made using a swirling method, allowing the colors to flow and stretch inside the bead surface. This approach brought out a beautiful range of tones — from soft pinks to deep violets. In some of the semi-transparent beads, the glass expanded in just the right way to create a slightly milky, ethereal appearance that softens the colors and gives them a dreamy glow.
For the second set, I applied the same custom purple frit blend on top of various base glasses. This shift in technique produced a different effect — a palette of rich lavenders, purples, and pinks that interact beautifully with whatever they're layered over. I especially love how these colors respond to turquoise base glass; they deepen into darker, moodier shades while still allowing the violet warmth to shine through.
This frit blend has been a joy to work with — versatile, expressive, and full of surprises. Whether swirled or layered, it seems to play well with everything, always revealing something new.
