Lampwork Beads: Sheer Imagination
Imagine it: an artist, thinking outside the box, experiments with melting a bit of glass in the heat of a cooking fire. Centuries later another artist successfully melts glass in the flame of an oil lamp using his own breath as a bellows. Imagine their excitement as they roll the glass into a small bead. Oh, the possibilities! For another several centuries, artists continued to use lamps for their heat source, producing unique beads, hence the name lampwork beads.
Handmade Necklaces - The Glory of a Galaxy Around Your Neck!
Sometimes nature sparks my creativity. Consider the night sky...a sweeping wonder of light from distant, spinning galaxies. Imagine grasping that light, compressing it, and placing the miniaturized glow around your neck!
The Art Bead necklaces I make give reality to that beautiful wreath of captured light.
If a galaxy consists of gravitationally bound systems of stars, stellar remnants, interstellar gas, dust and dark matter, my handmade necklaces consist of systems of equally remarkable seed beads, Swarovski Austrian crystals...
Handmade Jewelry - Playing With Sparkle and Light
Light--one of the basic elements of our existence. It gives us sight, perception, and affects our health and our moods. How it reflects from some surfaces, glides over other surfaces, and filters through yet others, is one of its most beautiful aspects.
Jewelry loves light and light plays with it in return. After all, the word jewelry comes from the word jewel, the anglicized form of the Old French word "jouel". That came from the Latin word "jocale", which actually means plaything!

Why Handcrafted Jewelry is More Thoughtful
It certainly cannot be denied that big jewelry companies are big for a reason - they're good at what they do! But the drawback to buying jewelry that is mass-produced is the fact that so many other people will also have it. There are some pieces, like anniversary necklaces or wedding bands for example, that are so personal that it doesn't feel as though they should be shared with thousands of other people. We at SWCreations believe that handcrafted jewelry is the best kind of jewelry!
